The Hardwood Floor Sanding Process in Richfield

How long does it take to get your hardwood floors sanded and refinished? When I go on estimates I always like to address this question. I usually say it is a 2-3 day process. A lot of it depends on how much square feet there is to sand and refinish. Most houses in Richfield with hardwood floors have around 450-600 square of hardwood. It usually is a couple bedrooms, a living room, hallway and dining room. When we get to a job, if it is an average size job around 500 square feet, we try to get the floors completely sanded the first day. If everything is going pretty smooth we usually can get two coats down by the end of the first day. Then on day two, we come back, buff everything out, do touch-ups, put the final coat down and everything looks great . Ideally, I would like this process to happen every time . But if the hardwood floor is bigger then 500 square feet, which is common in a lot of Richfield houses, or if the floor is really grimy, then we probably wouldn’t get everything sanded until the beginning of day two, then finish up on day three. It usually takes about two weeks for the final coat to fully cure, which means you will see the final sheen of the floor in about two weeks. But if you have a controlled temperature, with low humidity in the air and wood, it will speed up that process. I tell people if they have A/C in the house and a dehumidifier, turn both of those on and it will help the floor cure faster.
