How much dust is there? I get this question a lot when I go on bids. The average floor sanding job in Powderhorn Minneapolis is about 500 square feet. On average, a job that size will produce about 45-55 pounds of dust. This is what my machine will collect. This is most of the dust. However, my machine will probably not collect about 10-14 ounces of dust, that will dissipate through out the house. Having all the window and doors open will help a lot to reduce the amount of dust in the house. Everybody has different levels of what is dusty so it all depends on your own standards. A lot of the homes in Powderhorn Minneapolis have radiators, steps and little hallways. These areas are a little more difficult to sander because the big machines that are the most powerful, collect the most dust and remove the finish the easiest cannot be used. As a result, a radiator sander or an edger sander needs to be used in these areas, which is going to produce more dust and will not collect it as well as a big machine. So, if you have a few areas like these, expect there to be more dust produced from the sanding.
