What a great looking lake. I hear that a lot about Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis. It is about 204 acres big. The deepest point of the lake is about 33feet. The lake got its name in 1907 and was named after the grandmother of an Minnesota Indian hero Hiawatha. Most people around lake Nokomis use the lake to fish and sail. There are two nice beaches on the Lake that are popular with families in the area in the summer time. In the winter, the lake is the site up the U.S. pond championships. The Minneapolis Lake Nokomis area is great area for first time home buyers due to the relative cheap price of houses, large number of parks and lakes, good schools and close to stores and restaurants. Lake Nokomis also has two great community schools for children. The GEMS Program is a program for girls interested in Math and Schience, www.gems-gise.org. About 900 homes are bought and sold every year in Lake Nokomis.
