Edina MN Report

by admin on July 13, 2008

The name “Edina” has become synonymous with “upscale homes.” Although there are plenty of luxury homes and executive estates here, there are also surprising numbers of affordable houses. Use this link to explore the entire selection of Edina Minnesota real estate, and view virtually every home currently listed on the Edina MLS

The City of Edina has also gained recognition in national publications for its high quality of life. There are many factors that contribute to this reputation, but the quality school system is certainly a big one. Independent School District 275 serves the educational needs of this community with one high school, two middle schools, and six elementary schools. There are also two alternative elementary schools, including a French Immersion and Continuous Progress school. The secondary programs place heavy emphasis on college preparation. Foreign languages are an integral part of the curriculum; languages include Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, and Russian. The accolades the school district has received are too numerous to mention all of them, but include state and national recognition for music education, reading, math, state sports championships, and the Senator’s Award for Excellence. A quality school system is important for supporting community real estate values, and Edina has one of the best in the country.

Edina is adjacent to the southwestern corner of Minneapolis, and enjoys a highway infrastructure that is ideal for commerce. The city has a very strong retail and commercial sector. Major employers include Macy’s- Southdale Center, Nash Finch Co, Jerry’s Enterprises, and Fairview Southdale Hospital. Major retail hubs include Southdale, Galleria, Yorktown and Centennial Lakes Plaza.

Edina places a premium on parks, recreation, and outdoor activities, and maintains several unique park facilities, including Arneson Acres, a unique amenity that is home to the Edina Historical Society, Edina Museum, and the City of Edina Greenhouse. Braemar Arena features three regulation size ice sheets. Golf Digest magazine has ranked the Braemar Golf Course as one of the best 75 golf courses in the country. Centennnial Lakes Plaza is a unique 75 acre urban park that features pond fishing, paddleboats, and fabulous gardens, all within view of major shopping and commercial facilities.

Looking for Homes

Right now, there are 285 single family homes currently for sale on the Edina MLS system, offered at an average asking price of $881,670. Although this figure is higher than those of many surrounding Minneapolis suburbs, 77 of them are priced under 400K. Upscale homes include executive states nestled in small acreage lots graced with mature hardwood trees, twelve car garages, and views of Mirror Lake. On the other end of the spectrum, there are plenty of nice starter homes, including 1.5 story homes with upstairs expansion areas, hardwood floors, formal dining rooms, and alcoved ceilings. The Edina real estate market has a home just for you, regardless of your tastes or shopping power.

Although there are many excellent options for home buying in Edina, you need a professional that has established his business on a reputation on due-diligence and agressive representation. Please call me at 612-423-0202 for a free consultation.
